The Indian black salt, also known as “Kala Namak”, is a popular variety of Indian volcanic stone salts. It gets it’s deep dark color because of the minerals and iron found in it and when ground it looks pink in color.

Ordinarily, the salt was refined with heat, charcoal along with plant materials like ground harad seeds, which supposedly also has medicinal and aphrodisiac properties.
